Some places in Europe are for tourists who love art, history, and architecture. Other places are mandatory inclusions in the itinerary of religious minded folks. Nature plays its role in drawing tourists towards its masterpieces in some places. Bornholm is one such place. Bornholm is a picturesque island forming part of Denmark. The beaches here are surrounded by dark blue water of Baltic sea, with pure white waves riding gushing in and out on it. Despite the beauty that nature has bestowed to this place, Bornholm is not one of the popular tourist destinations among Europe tours, partly because of isolation. It is, indeed, a quaint place; the buildings, ruins, and lifestyle here are somethings that people associate with more than a couple of centuries ago.
For adventure seekers, nature has created almost a customized package in this exclusive island which offers ample privacy. Bournholm adventures package includes simple almost risk free activities such as walking, angling, cycling, running and golf, apart from more dangerous but exciting adventures such as sea kayaking, rock climbing, diving, wind surfing, mountain biking, mountaineering, and abseiling.
Fishing is extremely popular sport out here, and there are well equipped boats that take tourists out into sea. Invariably, tourists return with astounding fish for their meal.
Rock climbing and descending is a popular activity around Vang Syd, and many places along Randkløve Gorge. Hammerbruddet quarry and Moseløkken quarry are abseiling opportunities with almost vertical unrelenting rocks. To facilitate rock climbing and abseiling, resin bolts, and thread slings have been installed. Mountaineers would love Baily Tårnet and Krogeduren.
The reason such activities are possible in Bornholm is because of the rocky stones that form an entry into the sea. The waves in baltic sea are perfect for surfing. Therefore, the island is perfect for summer activities such as these. There are long mountain treks as well. The mountains on this island are truly gigantic and almost unrelenting. The cliffs here offer mountaineers a chance to indulge in their passion throughout the year, unlike the cliffs in many other regions of the world. Some of the mountains here are 35m in height, so a 70 m rope should be packed if any of these activities are on cards. A helmet is also mandatory because some of the rocks in quarries may give in.
As to diving, the tourist would be spell bound by the colors and formations under the sea, much of which is in pristine conditions.
In winters, snow takes charge of the island, and therefore, Bornholm offers all types of popular winter sports. There are gentle slopes as well as more daunting ones. Skiing and skating are popular activities out here during winters. Skiing routes are Vestermarie plantations, Ro plantations, and Almindingen. Children would love Store Trove and Rønne’s main square for skating.
This island can take people back in times because it has preserved some of the ancient buildings and ruins. Some of the ancient buildings are still being used to this date. Among the ruins, the Hammershus are worth a visit. Round churches are still around too.
