So, you’ve finally decided to move or study in another country and thought that Australia is the best place so far. But wait! Have you done your research like knowing how to get there, shipping to Australia, and options available for accommodation? If you haven’t yet, this article will give some useful tidbits when planning to work or migrate in the land of the kangaroos.

Foreigner young adults are most welcome

working_aus2Australia has what is called the “Working Holiday visa.” This is a temporary visa that is available for individuals age 18 to 30. This is issued by the government with the intention of cultivating cultural exchange as well as strengthening the relationship between Australia and participating countries. The visa allows foreigners to work in the country for up to a year. The government is still contemplating if they should include people within the age range of 30 to 35.

They have strict shipping and importing rules

If your family back home for instance will be shipping to Australia in the future, then you must inform them early on to check on the things that are marked as “prohibited goods” by the government. You see, Australia complies with strict shipping and importing regulations. For example, the Department of Agriculture confiscates and destroys the following goods: dairy products, live plants, seeds and nuts, uncanned meat products (including preserved meat), and equipment containing CFCs or hydro chlorofluorocarbons.

Rental fees seem cheap for a reason

If you have been researching on how to move to Australia, then you might have already scoured the Internet for accommodation options. Have you noticed how most of listed prices are very cheap? Well, there’s actually an explanation to that. Most of the rental businesses post weekly rates on their advertisements. So before you decide that the beach house is a cheap rental property, multiply the posted rate by four first so that you get the actual monthly rate.

Immigrant population is expected to rise

In 2010, almost 6 million of the population in Australia are said to have been born outside of the country. If the statistics are right, this is even expected to balloon in the coming years where 1/3 of the country’s population could make up immigrants by 2050. As you can see, moving to Australia won’t be lonely for foreigners because there are others in the country that is just like you.

In summary

Moving to another country may seem like a scary thing, but if you choose a country like that of Australia, then you should be on the right track. Setting aside the fact that shipping to Australia can be a complicated matter, the country is open to immigrants and foreigner visitors.
