About Us
Udjuni is a free and secure next-generation school management software, designed for k-12 schools. The software is capable of holding multiple-school data in one database, but maintains the security and access of such information only to individuals that are associated with a specific school.
The idea began with a former student of an African rural village school whom many of his classmates did not have chance to graduate from secondary school; merely due to a weak support system in the area of education. After thorough analysis of public education systems in many countries and extensive discussions with teachers, Udjuni (meaning 'The world') was conceived as a means to effectively engage schools administrators, teachers, parents, community volunteers and students in retaining and sharing knowledge and available teaching and learning resources.
During the discussions with teachers and administrators, it was estimated that on average, a teacher spends at least 14% of their working hours on lesson preparations and planning and then at least another 14% on assessing and evaluating student progress, reporting and record keeping. In other words they are spending hours doing administrative work than teaching, Udjuni school management was designed to cut down hours spend on doing repetitive work such as reporting and reduce the hours spend on evaluation and assessment, thus freeing the teachers' time to do their work.
The system also allow parents, community volunteers and fellow students to develop and distribute learning and teaching material that may help other students. Using our 'Lil Professor' component, students can search for available classes on the subject of interest that they can take at their own pace. All these are also accompanied by tons of practice material for students to try to make sure they have mastered a concept and are ready for examinations.
